🏔️ Nestled in the embrace of the Swiss Alps, Grindelwald offers a slice of heaven for every adventurer's soul. We embarked on an unforgettable day, traversing its breathtaking landscapes and experiencing the best it has to offer. Here's our account of a day well-spent in this Alpine paradise.
Getting There: Car and Train
Our journey began with a scenic ride from Interlaken to Grindelwald, a charming town nestled amidst the majestic mountains. The picturesque route offers a glimpse of the region's beauty even before you arrive.
Parking
As we arrived by car, we found convenient parking options available in the town. While Grindelwald has its fair share of parking challenges, the experience awaiting us was well worth it. The cost for parking was CHF 2 per hour.
Ascending to Alpine Heights 🚡

To start our adventure, we ascended to the First cable station via a cable car. The ascent itself was a mini-adventure, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. The cost for the cable car ride was CHF 75 per person, which included 3 stops and access to the First Flyer.
The First Cliff Walk

Our first stop at the First Cliff Walk was a daring yet exhilarating experience. The walkway, clinging to the cliffs, offered jaw-dropping vistas of the Alps below. The adrenaline rush and the stunning scenery combined to create unforgettable memories. Best of all, the First Cliff Walk is free of charge.
Savoring Swiss Delights 🍽️

As hunger pangs struck, we indulged in a delectable brunch at Berggasthaus First. The hearty Swiss cuisine fueled us for the adventures that lay ahead. We were delighted to find some vegetarian and eggless options on the menu. While the cost was a little higher, the experience and the view from the terrace were entirely worth it.
Hike to Bachalpsee Lake

Energized by our meal, we embarked on a hike to Bachalpsee Lake. The journey led us through Alpine meadows and towering peaks. The turquoise waters of the lake mirrored the surrounding beauty, making it a picture-perfect spot for a pause. The hike was approximately 3 kilometers one way.
Ziplining and Soaring Amidst Peaks ☁️

There are two options for thrill-seekers: the First Flyer and the First Glider. We chose the First Flyer zipline, soaring above the valleys with the wind in our hair. The exhilaration of flying above the mountains was unparalleled. The cost for the First Flyer experience was CHF 31 if bought on the spot, otherwise it was included.
Go Karting in the Alps
If you are visiting during summer, for the next leg of your journey, you can embrace the mountains on a mountain cart ride from Schrekfeld to Bort station. It is sort of a 3 tire Gokart adapted for the mountains. The adrenaline-pumping descent through Alpine trails would be a rush of pure joy. The tickets for this cost an additional CHF21/person.
Thrilling ride down
If you happen to be there in summer, you can swap your mountain carts for Trotti bikes, descending from Schrekfeld to Bort amidst laughter and unforgettable views. They are essentially scooters with no seat or pedals and the ride down can be one hell of an adventure. These costs CHF21/person.
Explore the Town

Back in Grindelwald by the Gandola, we wandered through the town's charming streets, immersing ourselves in its Alpine culture. The cozy cafés, local shops, and friendly locals added to the warm ambiance.
The Canyon of Adventure
If it is summer, you should definitely venture to the Glacier Canyon. These series of tunnels, walkways, and rocky outcrops will lead you into the 250 million-year-old canyon where the Lütschine River roars through. You should definitely not miss the chance to bounce on a one-of-a-kind 170 square metre spider web trampoline on top of the rushing water. While parking here is free, the entry ticket costs CHF17. Make sure to check the timings and do not miss out on the night experience they hold on every Friday.
🏞️ Grindelwald, a paradise of adventures and vistas, painted a day of memories we'll cherish forever. From soaring above the peaks to savoring Swiss flavors, our day in this Alpine haven was a canvas of joy, excitement, and natural splendor.
